Breaking News: The Chicago Bears have reportedly added rookie tight end Brock Bowers to their list of head coaching candidates.

You read that right, a rookie tight end. But honestly? It makes sense when you think about it.

Bowers just broke Mike Ditka’s rookie receiving record. Ditka went on to win a Super Bowl. The Bears are clearly connecting the dots, if Ditka’s stats led to a championship, then Bowers’ stats should lead to a clipboard and a headset.

Forget coaching experience. Forget offensive schemes. Forget modern football. The Bears are desperate and stuck in the past. They’d rather chase echoes of 1985 than actually build a real future.

So sure, let’s interview Bowers. At this point, it’s about as logical as anything else this franchise has done.

Bowers will need to figure out if he has a better opportunity as the tight end of The Raiders or as the head coach of The Chicago Bears. Sounds like a catch-22 to me.
