The 5 Best Moments From The Bears vs. The Seahawks

Despite an awful game, I still found 5 moments enjoyable.

“We Got Em. We Got Em.”

Let’s set the scene. There were 10 minutes and 28 seconds left on the game clock. It was a whopping 3 to 0 in favor of Seattle. The Seahawks punted once again, and the ball was downed at The Bears' 9-yard line.

Just great. We were all thinking it—here comes the dreaded Caleb interception that’s going to ruin his streak. But what transpired was a drive that gives me hope for the future. It should give you hope too.

10:19 on the clock - 1st & 10: Caleb throws to DJ for 4-5 yards. OPI called on DJ, and The Bears moved back even more. I know, I know. Here comes the pick-six.

09:52 on the clock - 1st & 14: A dumbass screen thrown to DJ two yards deep in The Bears’ end zone. They lose 3 yards. We just kept moving back to start this drive, and we all saw that dumbass WR screen coming. Actually I don’t even know if its a screen or a sweep, whatever it was, it was idiotic.

9:05 on the clock - 2nd & 17: Caleb barely gets the play off and throws a DART to DJ. That could’ve been the pick-six we all feared, but Caleb's generational arm talent wins again. DJ gains 7 yards, and you bet his ass is tired.

Now, this next play was my favorite from Caleb last night.

8:34 on the clock - 3rd & 7: Caleb gets set. He reads the defense and tells his guys, “We got em, we got em.”

The ball is snapped at 8:23, again barely getting the play off, but The Bears executed the screen perfectly!

Swift gained 24 yards and Soldier Field was buzzing. Finally, something good was happening, and our pick-six fears subsided.

I loved this moment because it shows me that Caleb is recognizing what he sees on the field. He knew the play call was perfect. Don’t doubt for one second that him saying “we got em” didn’t positively influence the play.

It instilled confidence in the 10 other guys to execute the play flawlessly. No ineligible man downfield. No holding.

Confident execution.

The TD That Could’ve Been

What about that touchdown throw negated by an offensive holding penalty? That was a thing of beauty.

3:26 on the clock - 3rd & 10: The ball is snapped. The offensive line breaks down, and Caleb rolls to his left with 3 Seahawk defenders gunning for him. Caleb, on the run, hits the MJ pose and fires another DART to Rome in the end zone.

The refs throw a flag. Offensive holding. We settled for a field goal, but this was a hopeful drive.

The Other TD That Could’ve Been

I’m not breaking down this play, but Kyle Gordon is a DAWG!

I’m not sure the refs got it right by saying he was down. That was a whack-ass call. Should’ve been a TD.

The 4th Down Play of The Year

I’m just going to ignore every stupid second that happened before this play.

2:14 on the clock - 4th & 5: Of course, the offensive line breaks down again. Caleb is running for his life. This is the game, and what do you know—Superman Caleb shows up.

He somehow completes a pass to DJ, and The Bears convert the 4th and 5.

Just wow! I don’t know if any other QB would’ve made that throw in THAT moment.

The 3rd & 14 Pass

Again, I’m just gonna ignore the seconds that transpired before and after this play.

1:16 on the clock - 3rd & 14: Ball is snapped. The offensive line actually holds up? What?

Caleb is dancing in the pocket. He’s looking downfield. Nobody is open. He keeps dancing. Nobody is open.

Then he evades a rusher and finally rolls to his right. With 1:07 left on the game clock, Caleb fires a DART 15 yards down the field. Bullseye.

Rome makes a great catch, and The Bears convert. Wow!

I still don’t know why a timeout wasn’t taken IMMEDIATELY after that play, but these were the best moments from an awful game.

Final Thoughts

There was hope in this game. There has been hope all season, but it hasn’t led to wins.

Despite the dysfunctional franchise, there’s hope.
